The Book Thief Cover

The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak, tells the story of a young girl in Germany during WWII. This inspiration was drawn from a section in the book when the main characters’ Jewish friend, who was concealed by her family in their basement, was painting over the pages of Mein Kampf to write his own story.
